Construction at 78 South Main Street
Construction of the three-story, 17,000 square foot addition to 78 South Main Street is progressing. The new building will house the Community Access Program (CAP) which is currently located in the Howe Center. The first floor will be used to serve clientele of CAP. The second floor will have offices for case workers and administration. CAP provides comprehensive, community-based services to support people with developmental disabilities. The building was designed by Ralph Nimtz of the NBF (Nimtz Berryhill and Figiel) architectural firm in Rutland. Giancola Construction Corporation is the general contractor for the project. The completion date for this addition will be sometime in early fall.
Larry Ballou Promoted to Vice President of Human Resources
Dan Quinn announced that effective June 30, 2008, Larry Ballou has been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources. Larry has been employed at Community Care Network (CCN) for 11 years. He started with us as the Manager of Human Resources and quickly became the Director of Human Resources - a position he has held for a number of years. Dan went on the say, " since I came on board, Larry's leadership abilities were readily apparent to me. Promoting Larry to a Vice President position recognized his performance and dedication over the years, and also his value as a leader to CCN in the future."
With this change, the CCN senior management team includes:
- Tom Pour, M.B.A, Chief Financial Officer; also the Vice President of Operations for Rutland Community Programs - 30 years with CCN
- David Long, Ph.D., Vice President of Behavioral Health - 23 years with CCN
- Jerry Bernard, Ed.D., Vice President of Developmental Services - 8 years with CCN
- Larry Ballou, Vice President of Human Resources - 11 years with CCN
Daniel J. Quinn, M.S.W., M.B.A.
New President/ CEO
Daniel Quinn started in his position as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Care Network, Rutland Mental Health Services, and Rutland Community Programs on January 1, 2008. Dan has extensive experience as an executive leader in non-profit organizations and was in private practice as a behavioral health clinician earlier in his career. Most recently, he held the position of Vice President of Behavioral Health Services at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Dan holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Simmons College and a Masters in Business Administration from Western New England College.
WELL-BEING
The Vermont Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports presented Community Care Network with the 2007 Gold Standard Award for Continued Excellence in Work site Wellness. Six individuals and 42 employers were recognized for their work site wellness efforts and CCN was one of four who received the Gold Standard Award for Continued Excellence in Work site Wellness. The Vermont Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports is a physical activity promotion and advocacy group, comprised of volunteers appointed by the Governor to represent a broad spectrum of Vermonters. The council's mission to promote wellness through physical activity for people of all fitness and ability levels.
For 13 years, the Vermont Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports has presented the awards on National Employee Health and Fitness Day. This was the first time Melissa Johnson, director of the President's Council on Physical Fitness participated in the Vermont event.
CARF International Three Year Accreditation Received
On May 22, 2007, Rutland Mental Health Services (RMHS) was again accredited by CARF International (The Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for a period of three years. RMHS has received CARF Accreditation for the past twenty years. This achievement is an indication of the organization's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served.
